Snoop's State of Mind

In the countdown to Snoop Dogg's forthcoming album MALICE IN WONDERLAND, the Long Beach G has given an extra-large shout out to Jay-Z and Alicia Keys by recording his own version of EMPIRE STATE OF MIND, cheekily titled SNOOP'S STATE OF MIND.

Snoop has even shot a video out in NY to accompany the track, which respectfully pokes fun at the rival city: "I get my kicks, roll a blunt on the bricks and wait for Kobe and the Lakers to come serve the Knicks," he rhymes, while ambling around Manhattan.

Leaving the original backing track as is - including Alicia's chorus - Dogg signs off with the line: "If I wasn't from the West Coast I'd probably be from New York too."

MALICE IN WONDERLAND arrives December 8.

Liam Talks New Album

In a rare video interview with MTV Italy, Liam Gallagher has revealed his new album plans with remaining Oasis members Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Zak Starkey.

"We've been demoing some songs that we've had for a bit -- just doing that on the quiet, not making a big fuss about it," Liam says. "After Christmas we might go in the studio and record it -- hopefully have an album out in July."

"I feel a million per cent confident about them," Liam says of the songs, "that they could be better than Oasis."

Despite their recent split, Liam was also uncommonly respectful of his bro in the clip: "I love him to bits," he said.

Fela!

Jay-Z, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith (all described as "rabid fans") are co-producing "Fela!," a new musical about the late Nigerian Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti.

"I have an abiding regret that Fela never achieved the recognition he deserved during his lifetime," Kuti's former manager Rikki Stein told Billboard.

"I believe that with the show, the film and the [recent album] reissues, a lot is going to change," Stein added. "We'll see a much wider audience for Fela. There were a million people at his funeral shouting, 'Fela will live forever.' Of course, they were right."

"Fela!" hits Broadway on Monday.

Money Talks

New this week, Dizzee's brand new dance anthem DIRTEE CASH craftily samples (okay, blatantly samples) The Adventures of Stevie V's 1990 club classic, DIRTY CASH (MONEY TALKS).

A new video inspired by seventies cult horror The Wicker Man has also surfaced and remixes are also underway.

Aptly, DIRTEE CASH comes via Dizzee's own label, Dirtee Stank and is sure to follow in the footsteps of his recent club hits BONKERS and HOLIDAY.

All are taken from the Rascal's new album TONGUE N CHEEK, available here!
